Self-Deception

Self-Deception

Tsistu
Tricked me
Into believing
That your eyes
Only listened
To my smiles,
That your heart
Only tasted
My tears,
That your soul
Only danced
To my lifebeat.

(Tsistu, the rabbit, is a trickster.)

Deciduous Dance

Deciduous Dance

Autumn trees
perform a
seductive
strip
tease
for the
perverse
pleasure of
Old
Man
Winter.

Winter Goodbye

Winter Goodbye

I gazed out the frost-kissed window
An hour after you left,
But your footprints had faded away.

The warmth of your love
Could no longer melt
The bitterness of goodbye–
Thaw the numbness of distance.

Summer Sizzle

Summer Sizzle

Fireflies
Blaze
Briefly
Like
Ground-bound
Meteors.
My image
Incinerates
In your eyes.
I crumble
Like ash
In your arms.
Fragmented,
I embrace
A breath,
A breeze
And soar
Starward,
Ignited
By your spark
And my wonder.

If you factor in that
My type is one of those
B Negatives,
You will understand why
My blood runs pessimistic
And my heart beats tentative.
