I just love nights like this: sitting under a comfy cover in front of a lighted tree and savoring a couple of old family recipe baked goods while listening to my all-time favorite songs of the season (including some French songs that were faves of my Great-Grandma who always insisted that I speak “en français”).

Soul Songs
Like many of my generation, I made mix tapes featuring my favorite songs. I played those tapes until they were ragged, belting out every word and dancing to every beat.
Although decades have passed since those mixtape days, the music remains in my heart.
Along life’s path, I have collected more music must-haves for my “ultimate compilation.” From the big band era to today’s Top 40, these songs speak to my soul. I hope they move you as much as they do me.
Singsongs in Summer Swelter
Sunny summer days of my yesteryears lumbered and lulled. Hours hung heavy in the humid air.
To occupy those drawn-out dog days, I dangled my tiny toes in trickling streams, carved crooked creatures in cracking mud, climbed creaking limbs of ancient oaks, and imagined dragons cavorting in cotton ball clouds.
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honahlee.
